8) Saw it off. Better yet, let someone who knows how to saw it off do it.
But , that is how I always have. Some people like to heat it some, and try to make it lose. I choose not to melt my blank by accident.

heat

Just don't use direct heat, no fire! What I mean is use something like a blow dryer to heat the reel seat, warm it up little by little twisting the reel seat often even if you don't feel it moving it will. You can also use the dremel and a buffing bit as I did with my old drag washers, the friction will create enough heat to loosen the epoxy. Good luck man.

If you're restoring an old rod with a quality chrome/brass seat,a heat gun will sometimes work if the seat is not in contact with the blank ( taped or cork under the seat)...you can damage the blank as said. . . .If you are unsuccessful & have to cut it, cut a straight line with a dremmel cutoff disc & spread it with a flat blade screwdriver.......There are also thin round spiral cut & carbide hacksaw blades used for cutting odd shapes & ceramic tile...if there is enough space between the blank & seat to insert the blade,(you'll have to cut off the end of the blade & make a point) you can push it through the tape & cut the tape out if there is tape (or cork on some older rods) under the seat.....laquer thinner will also soften tape where you could twist off the seat, but you better test the bottom 1/4" soaking in a capfull of thinner to make sure the blank doesn't delaminate or soften....some will, some won't .......if in doubt, seek proffessional help :D .
