Not true. Just not from the pier. Unless that pier goes out to 100 ft+.

8) I never said there aren't any "real" Reds down here, because I know there are a "few". But I will never believe one is caught in shallows, yet alone a pier. I can't even imagine just how many times someone sees a Mutton, Mangrove, Toro, Squirrelfish, or Vermillion, and starts calling them Red Snapper.
I bet you over half the forum doesn't even know what one looks like. Not that they will admit it.

Okay, i had a feeling that there might be a few reds around but D@mn! how often does one hear about a RS being caught south of lake worth. but anyway......... even out of the few that are there, ya never know. some red snappers could perhaps visit a pier near you(anyone) but it would be the rarest occurrence though. for me to see someone post a report and a photo of an AJ kinda blew me away. :) before, i never knew AJ's would come that close to shore(in the present) especially the bigger ones. but because the stream is so close by and the water is mostly clear......... anything could likely show up. did anyone hear about big earls report. I believe he stated that red snapper(smaller ones likely) were being caught from a bridge were the pass leads to the ocean.

Well, for those who never seen a red snapper......... this is what they look like.

8) It's not rare for an AJ to make an appearance at a pier. I caught a 40 lbr about 20 years ago at Anglins on a dried up dead herring. I have seen others swim by at other times thru the years, and others caught thru time. They patrol around the reef at times, so no biggy. Stream really has nothing to do with it.

Went out today to get some shark bait.. Ended up with two big runners and a bonita. We had a block out when we got there at like 1030 and the hoos were around for an hour or two but then disappeared. I was hoping for macks but they didn't show up.

Not really. A few schools came through at the T. Gogs and hoos were around. The bonita we got was caught on a hoo.

IN THE A.M. Several thick pods...but really only bugging from 5-6:00 a.m. then shutting off around 9:30 to 10:00. You may have some bug between then and late afternoon, but the last few days they haven't been getting interested again until about 2:30-3:00 in the afternoon. Between the north and west winds, coupled with butthole snook and barjacks spookin' the pods...even the best chances are diminished in the early a.m. But, to answer your question, yeah they're there...but you may want to put your alarm on the "a**crack o' dawn" setting.

Hope that helped.

plenty of Ballyhoo if your interested lol
Very scarce kings and mackerel action if any, Cobes have been slow this year, very skiddish snook, early mornign gogs. Haven't heard of any sails in a while. I've heard reports of very large schools of mackerel up north near jupiter and lake worth, hopefulyl they come down here.

Didn't fish today but stopped by about an hour ago. Not much going on apparently, The water was extremely clear, no waves, no hoos at the T, although , from the beach I saw a couple of bait showers right before sunset.

That's it. Will try next week when is warm enough to feel my hands.

Went out last night 10:00-01:00. Ballyhoos at the time, water clear, nothing was happening out there. Had a live bally and runner out with no takers. Also flatlined a fresh plug with no takers.

Shouldn't the Kingfish bite be going off?

Late Dec, Jan, early Feb = Time to get the reels serviced, cleaned, repaired and respooled for Spring....

There will be the usual king bite at daybreak, but for the most part the midday bite for kings is diminished, but not nonexistant these months...Good time to restock the bait freezers also.
