been hanging out at the intercoastal at night for the past 3 weekend and have seen small pods here and there but nothing like they are supposed to be.
Every weekend morning at the beach as well, beginning to wonder...

No need to wonder. They'll be down eventually, just some years it happens later than others

Heading up to Hutch tonight. Hopefully there will be so many mullet I don't go near my computer for 3 days except to watch Florida-LSU.
Maybe I'll drop a report at the start of the game, before I get too drunk

Good luck up there!
Last Sat I was on the beach about 7 miles North of Sebastian inlet... a small school of mullet would go by about every 30 mins, and almost constant little groups of finger mullet would go by about 20' off the beach. Not too much chasing them but did manage 2 bluefish.

Re: 2009 Mullet Run and Fall Run "Make your Predictions"
The mullet run is a sham, a scam, a ruse to sell snatch hooks, coolers, and beer!
Saw quite a few schools up on Hutch and probalby 8 tarpon close enough to cast to, but they were not intested in my offerings. I threw freelined live mullet head-hooked, tail-hooked, and just heads to the left, right, inside, outside, and middle of the schools and nada.
It was pretty sweet watchig the tarpon roll through all slow, then every now and again explode on bait.
Caught 2 big jacks with mullet on the bottom when no schools were around. Go figure.
Still waiting for that bananas day.

Dania canals are loaded with fingers 2 casts put 7 dozen in my livewell on Sat morning. Also saw a small school of about 200 medium size silvers headed south on Anglins on Sunday morning.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

thats because nothing eats it [/quote]
That has been my experience with them down there. They work on the piers but never had any luck with them on a boat really.

Where are the mullet? This post is a month old???Zebco wrote: The fish will come wind or not. It's called migration.
Then a few days later you post this?
I thought the weather didn't matter and the mullet will come????Zebco wrote: The mullet have been running. It is just a slow process getting the run to reach down here in a solid way till the weather cooperates.
They will be here next week when we get some weather to help up south boys out!

Okay yes I see a few mullet, but not the mullet!
Get ready boy and girls as it is going to happen!

Re: 2009 Mullet Run and Fall Run "Make your Predictions"
Did have fun with some fish though. My locals boys made 10 casts and out fished the whole catwalk for snook. Wind was cranking and it was hard fishing. These boys got it wired and my touch will come back soon. At least the 5 snook I've gotten locally are in the freezer. Nice to get some bottom fish before the clousure starting Jan. 1st, 2010
Did take a fish or two home and caught some that were eaten.

Re: 2009 Mullet Run and Fall Run "Make your Predictions"
Took a little vacation up the SI to visit some old friends and get away from this hell hole we live in. Nothing beats relaxing up there and doing so fishing. Those little sea bass are some of the best eating fish.
Zebco is right and as I stated in an earlier post hopefully they won't stay out deep in 20 - 40 feet of water like they did a couple years ago. That would the worse case situation. If they stay in the intercoastal it will still be great fishing for shorebound anglers. Still waiting on the WEATHER to bring the bait! Even though the weather doesn't matter???? and they will come.
Funny thing is the bluefish macs have arrived way before the mass of the mullet run. They are solid in 30 feet of the beach.
A friend was surfing yesterday in stuart and said it's been down right scary the past 3 weeks. Can't wait for the WEATHER to push them down to us!

What did you hear, Cookin? I heard the bite was really good in Sebastian inlet yesterday and that there were some bluefish that were caught off Boca beaches today. That was it. Did you hear of anything else?
