I totally agree as well.. Its the silver mullet that "draws" the fish down the coast.... As they migrate, the predators migrate with them. Sure the resident mullet may leave the local backwaters, and some predators may follow, however, its gonna be resident snook and poon, maybe a few jacks, but its the silvers that bring down the spinners, ladyfish, macks, blues... etc. Take Ft Laud area for example.... get back inside Port Everglades... back in the New River... there really is no resident ladyfish and blues in there... the silvers draw them down.

just spent the weekend in cocoa watching the launch, saw a pretty good school; <1000 fish getting worked by a few big poons. The mullet were a little bigger than I was expecting tho....maybe local fish as well Surfers outnumbered anglers 20 to 1 easy, add the high seas and it was unproductive trip for me.

Anthony... lol... My buddy in Staten Island called me just for the reason of "mullet". Did you know that Snook Hunter on this forum is from Staten Island as well? We went fishing a few times together already.... to include "shahking" the other night.

Master... good to see you on here!!!!!
I don't think there are any "migrating" mullet here yet, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, they move from North to South, and I have not seen any reports of mullet up North yet.. Jeff, you know my boy Jeff, he fished a couple of the bank bass tourny's with you and I, he lives up in Melbourne and checks the beach daily... got another fishing buddy that lives up in N Stuart, and he has not seen them yet either... They gotta pass them before they get here... I believe, by next week, THEY will start to see trickles of the mullet though.

Spent the weekend in Melbourne and they were there. Finger mullet mostly in the morning but some later in the afternoon. Caught lots of whiting with an occasional pompano. Bluefish were hitting the mullet but was only able to land one. The mullet were smart enough to stay out far enough to piss me off. Between that and the strong crashing waves, catching them was not fun, except for those watching me from the beach. Still, it was a great weekend. Looking forward to my revenge when they make it to Hollywood Beach!!

Re: 2009 Mullet Run and Fall Run "Make your Predictions"
I've seen finger mullet for past 2 weekends up in Stuart beach. Little thicker last weekend. It's like someone flipped the Greenie to Mullet switch. Little thicker this weekend but they're still coming through in small schools, nothing big.
While throwing my cast net for mullet I caught 3 moonies and a ladyfish. Talk about a heavy load.

The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

No, more like a foosball field. They're small and hauling ass. You have to almost jog down the beach to get a net on them.bolo wrote: Would you say it is like a football-field sized school of mullet?
