Pomps in the morning on cut live shrip...no takers on jigs

No action on the T. Plenty of crabs getting soaked.

Schools of big jacks came thru, but no hookups.

MACK ATTACK!!!!! :auto: :auto:

before sunset, spanish spanish spanish. after sunset, kings kings kings.

i caught only one decent spanish. I lost probably my BIGGEST spanish ever right at the piling and lost a nice king at the gaff. Most of the kings were coming on the artificials, the biggest king was about 35lbs. Some guy caught a HUGE jack also. The tarpon were there, the longest hook up was about 10 min, but none of them were landed. Everyone got a good site of one of them, around the 50lb range.

Oh yea, these two cobias made a fool of everyone we had three chances, man there was so many jigs thrown at them i thought those 2 fish were going to be snagged :D No hookups unfortunately.

Im not really a big fan of spanish macks, and I would of kept it for shark bait, but since there was only one i decided to fillet it. Here's my only spanish, bigger cooler only fits in the boat :D

Sounds like a great day to be out. How packed was the pier?

REALLY PACKED, im not really a big fan when it gets this crowded but oh well. What I didn't like is how even though I managed to find some room to cast, the guys didn't let smaller kids fish much, and I noticed after they got tangled up and what not, they just started to fish for bait as nobody really cared whether or not they caught anything. I remember being in this position, and whithout getting tangled, losing a few rigs, being cursed at :D I didn't learn how to fish pier style

Great jack Charlie !!!!!!!!!

May have to try that beach this morning, need a change of pace, but having been catching my share of snook. The tide for Cuda is off, so I may try it, my gear is too light for the pier.

Thank you for the fishing report. That is a very nice Mac. They are very tasty when cook fresh.

I fished up there on Friday morning. Got a late start with my grandfather, got there around 9am. Many maks and jacks coming over the rails. I really wanted to catch Permit and only soaked crabs for all of about an hour, when my grandfather said lets fish live baits.Wind was howling, and dines kinda moved out in the afternoon. Called it quits around 2:30pm. Seen one jumbo tarpoon hooked and many maks and jacks. Baits are not as thick as I have seen them up to Juno in the summer. Probly in a couple more weeks.

Got him on the tsnami air-wave. You know the one :D

Bring a big topwater plug and toss it south from the 2nd hut as soon as the pier opens. Get nice size bonita, macks, kings on same set up.

When the action slows take off the plug, put a 4/0 hook on the duo lock and free line a bait or just screw it and go to back to bed

Cheers...see you soon

I got derailed yesterday and didn't make it, but fished another beach and went blank.
That's a nice catch on that tsunami, off the pier or the beach? If I get up there it will be the beach for me, I get nose bleeds that high.
Got a S/E coming in today, not my favorite wind.

Sunday 5/16/10 7-10

Macks-n-jacks. Plenty of bait around. A few tarpon in the mix on the beach.

But it was 20+ pound jacks doing the most damage.

SE Wind killed the action.

Why I even bothered to go out is beyond me. Wasted $3.20.

Saw a few macks come over the rail.

Wind should be good next weekend. There's the jinx for ya.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

Bait was def there dines in huge school, or I shoudl say balls moving up and down the pier. larger ones towards the end of the pier on the south side, greenies/cigar minows before the first hut. didnt try that hard to really fish jsut really messing around. also saw a few huge bonita in the cooler as well. decent current but nothing really bitting

few tarpon rolled threw but didnt wink at anyones bait. crab nor sardine not a bit for them

Bait situation was RIDICULOUS.

My buddy marco and I went out..
Lots of Macks...not super hungy though...were FEASTING on all those baits. We had one Mack take (little keeper) and he had a nice boni...otherwise, fishing was just "ok"
I did see a couple permit cruising through the surf on their way out to deeper waters..in between some macks and some bonis..

Anyone needing bait, though...that woulda been your spot. Haven't seen pods of gogs that big in a long-time either.

Saw a guy fishing crabs off the T, but not sure if they produced for him.

at the end it was just huge huge balls of bait. if you couldnt catch bait yesterday something was wrong with you

Gogs were:

Thick at 9:00....
Thick at 10:00
Thick at 11:00
Thick at 12:00
Thick at 1:00

Thick all day...

A lot like myself.
