Went out from 6Am through 1PM. Left before the temp took a plunge and the winds shifted into high gear. Current was rolling ESE with waves in the 1ft range. Bait-hoos- were everywhere, we chummed up a school that stayed all day and if you had a net you could haul 40gallons at a throw or more if you could lift it, gogs by the mid hut- you had to work but they were coming up steady. One Mac Spanish about 3lbs made it into Keith's "hurt locker"- got it on a bottom rod with a fresh hoo. Another angler, didn't get his name boxed 5 or 6 grovers from under the pier on live shrimp. Balloons in the current with livies’ swimming under, bottom rigs with hoos, crabs and pinfish North and South. Poppers looking for a jack, runner or a lost king- yo zuri's, gotchas and ghosts, crappie jigs and free lining hoos, spoons, diamonds and bucks. Guess we put our best effort but the fish weren't into it. We had em surrounded but....Slow day in the Neighborhood

Well I got to the pier at 9:45pm Friday night, had all the Arsenal with me ready to do battle. Got all rigged upped a little after 10. The Houndies were out in full force; hundreds of them! Ok I see some goggle eyes lets bug em up, first drop of the bug and......DUH......SNAG lost rig  . Look up to the sky and said to myself....hmm this isn't a good way to start out my night, ok deep breathe  re-rig. Nothing...Nodda.. no bait hitting (did not by any bait) look at the watch and its now almost 11:00 then it happened I got my first....wait for it..........................GRUNT!!!

O.k. cool I can deal with this cut the tail off and out he goes on the Penn Mag start bait fishing again and then; zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz rod gets hit grab it let it take a little more line go to set the hook and BAMMMMM caught me 2nd peice of Ocean real estate  . RE-RIG.... :ying: again thinking to myself what Fishing God did I piss of this time to deserve this. Got a few more grunts did my majic with them (secret snapper reciepe  ) put them out finally sat down at 11:38 5 minutes later zz.zzzzz.zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. jump up grab the rod and hook up first and last snapper of the night, missed a few small ones. Fished next to the 1st Hut, guy was using cut Bally and getting a few jacks and Bluefish. Didn't feel like cleaning the snap so gave it away as I was leaving. Going to Lantana tonight to see if the Pomps are still around

I had spent the last few weekends painting the outside of the house so I was anxious to to wet a line. Since I had to work on Saturday that left only Sunday. I packed up my gear and 2 sons and headed out. BY time I got there a little before 10 AM I knew things were going to be slow. Wind was almost nonexistant and the water was crystal clear. Heard someone caught a couple of mangroves earlier that morning so decided to hunt for them. There were none in my usual spots. Then I saw Xtheline and he said the day before the man of wars were out of control. From then on quite a number of them passed through and we had to be carefull when I brought up the fish and line since sometimes there would be tentacles stuck to them. Especially since my 5 year old loves to grab the fish and put them in the cooler. We ended up catching 7 really nice size margates throughout the day. Then closer to the end of our day we added 3 lookdowns(moonies). One of them was the biggest I have ever caught, about the size of a dinner plate. To round it out I caught a lizard fish, a scorpion fish and a 9 3/4 inch mangrove. Did not not see anyone catching anything other than some small grunts. Oh the guy next to me did catch a really small black grouper.
