Parking is dictated by the city on what spaces are what. I guess you haven't figured that part out yet. Has nothing to do with the pier.

I have been told to park at different spaces by different people working at the pier. Maybe they should make a post and make it clear for everyone. I have had no problems but I do not want any future problems either.

Two issues ill address.....
make that three.

First, the parking. This can easily be rectified by signs. I know, Ben will come on here and post something along the lines of either my input is not needed, or some BS about permitting. Just put the damn signs up that A.) direct folks where fishing parking is and B.) signs that show where that parking is.

Second, the commercial guys. For the most part, they are not only courteous and forgiving, but will also advice on proper techniques to ensure all have a good experience. The problems arise when all are trying to fish in small locations on the pier. You either fish with us, or against us. The only time this is an issue is generally when pompano fishing. Then most folks are casting out far with a long stick and heavy weight. If peeps are not with it, they are against it. You start casting with a bass pole and 1 oz weight, you will undoubtedly cause problems. Additionally, you need to cast as straight out as possible, and know where to place your rod. You can`t just cast out anywhere and set your rod down. My point being that there is a lot to learn about pompano fishing on the pier, and the commercial guys will school you if you are open to it.

And lastly (Third) comments made about different folks fishing here at DP...whether hispanic, oriental, rednecks, or goobers. Folks should learn to meld rather than divide. Try to be like the other guy and not a stereotype. (again, my apologies if I offended anyone...`cause I hate you all the same).

BTW, I`n not a comm fisherman, I`m a wreck....

it's mandatory right now, 3 rods per person, no exception, there's an advice at the entrance "whoever is caught with more than 3 rods on the pier will be banned from the pier for one month", that's it

I wish Anglins' would enforce that rule.

Bolo on Anglins
When you walk through the entrance the sign above the door says what you can use, not so worried about how many someone may have but more about how many are used.

3 Bottom rods in the water at anytime
you are allowed also one bait rod or light rod extra

Pompano Season Anglins only allows 1 Pompano rod per person and that is defined by the use of a multi hook rig with two or more hooks using Sand fleas or Shrimp, in the area where the pompano are running.
This rule does not prevent you from jigging for pompano while fishing a Pomp rig

I think you will see some big changes out there as this month move through, there will be a roaming person to start to enforce these rules, because of the new number of people on the Anglins from other piers.

We also may be putting a floating ladder in so FWC can pull there boat right up to the pier and they then would have a greater presence, we are talking with them about that now.
"this may be a good idea for all PIERS"

Things have been more lax due to temp lights and other reasons, but with the increase of people the last two months we have no choice but to enforce the rules now as the pier is near it completion.

But those on Anglins fishing need to talk to the guys in the bait shop so anything you see can and will be addressed.

Bottom fishing it is not likely all your rods will go off, you also need to remember One may have a large bait another may be for Snapper out, another may be for snook under the pier, unlike Pompano fishing it is very possible all will go off.

personally i use 1 and it's more than enough to get my limit

I would love to since I never caught a pompano. It just that I dont like fishing where there is 10-15 people crowded in one area.

3 rods enforced. You can fish all 3 if you like for Pomps. Not all fish 3 rods for them. Sometimes I do, sometimes 1. Me and my friends use common sense on the bite going on, wind, people, sometimes they will be biting on both sides. It all depends. I have spent the day many times fishing only 1 and 2 rods. There should be no limit anywhere on that. Just common sense. The problem with fishing too many rods is the vietnemese customers. Reason of they just throw them all out everywhere it can land and tangle everyone up nearby. I try to stay away. Anglins does not compare anywhere near the amount of people on it during a Pompano run, so the comparison is hard to make. Plus Dania can be solid on both sides at times.
All that needs to apply with multiple rods in the water is common sense.

You said it Zebco, "COMMON SENSE". Most people that fish on the pier does not apply this. At Anglins' most people lay out all their rods and not be considerate allowing others to fish. Especially when they are not there to attend to their rods. This is why I stated about how many rods do you need to fish with. I dont bother to fight about it anymore, I just fish late at night.

Sounds like the action on the pier can be good for the pomps. I may hit it tomorrow or tuesday. Do they normal hit all day long when there running? Also can they be caught at night?
I'll be the guy with blue Bertram visor and i wear glasses. I just started fishing from shore again and look forward to meeting some of you guys. I've been fishing some random spots on the beach and getting some fish. Not sure about how the crowds are on the pier it sounds interesting.

monday report

got to the pier at 8am fished till noon

pompano fishing was PACKED once again - i only saw 3 pompanos caught however the first hour i was there

fished out in the T with a buddy of mine, landed a fat mack, semi-bruiser jack.

lots of bait, not alot of macs but the ones that were caught were generally fat macks

wind is good - should be even better tomorrow

Saw the crowd on the peir and hit the beach and got one pomp in about three hours of fishing. Pretty much sucked. Went to the pier afterwards and saw a guy land a nice mackeral l on the T and got back to blues before I left. I may hit it tomorrow in the morning around 9:30am.

Not quite accurate. 6 to 8:30 am. I caught around 20 or so. Not sure if there were another 20 caught total, besides mine. Quit at the tide, current stopped, fish went back south. I left at noon.
That is your accurate Pompano report of the half day!

today

when I first got there many people at the T were hammering at the blue's everyone was raking em in, a couple people over there also caught from earlier some HUGE jack carvel's also mixed in people were catching some really nice mackeral, then the rains came around 1:00 and people were still catching blue's here and there and a couple caught mackeral during the rain but slowed it down alot, then it dwindled down to where barely anyone caught anything, around 2:00
a school of pompano hit the middle of the pier and everyone was crowding around over there for a while, then rained hard again, no one was catching anything 2 people caught sharks and the bait was gone, so then I left.

The rest were caught way inshore in the disaster known as "We are vietnamese and we will cast all our rods over yours and tangle you up the entire time".

i was there at the T from 12 am sat morning all the way to the late afternoon.

overnight
Blues hitting overnight about were 20 caught in total.That was the only thing biting in the night. bait was very hard to come by (unless you like to use butter fish and moonfish).

morning
as soon as the sun came up the big herring showed up and a school of nice jacks showed up 3 were hooked up b/w 10-15# but 2 were landed the other broke off right under the pier. the herring were there for a short time and then dissapeared. Blues were still biting but sporadicly before a huge school of 2 lbders came in and slaughtered anything in there path. they were easily sightcasted with lures. i even caught one on a doa shrimp. there were a few macks caught on gotchas and jigs.One nice mack was caught on a strip. there were a couple of screaming runs on the trollies one cutoff one dropped bait. The T got very crowded but we had our spot staked out. nice to see you fishing addict, i hope you like it!

afternoon
the rain came in after that and was basically nonstop the rest of the day. in the rain, more blues were caught. a few short muttons, and a few small sharks. it was 4 pm and it was still raining after 4 hours and there was no sign of it stopping. TIME TO GO!!!
We ended up with a crapload of blues which we then gave some away and kept a few. Can't even imagine how many we lost.

Stopped by the peir for about 5 minutes to day on my way back to work in the late afternoon and it looked like they were biting today. I must of seen 15 fish caught in 5 minutes. Hope no one got in trouble as my buddy got checked a couple hundred yards south of the pier by the FWC and he said he said they were catching them good at the pier with a voice that hinted he was watching it from a distance just like he had my buddy. Work sucks and the bite seems good. Hope it keeps up for this weekend if I don't end up in the islands.
