Re: Jetty Park "Fishing Reports" 2013
Headed out yesterday again with my buddy. In total we got 8 keeper snapper, and a large jack that was released. Baitfish are the key right now, and the snapper are biting well... I am going to hit the park Saturday again, and hopefully the fishing remains good...

Re: Jetty Park "Fishing Reports" 2013
Sorry man, I only saw your post now... I fished at JP from 4pm to 8:30pm.... Fishing was really slow, and I managed to get myself 2 keeper mangroves... I saw a HUGE red fish swimming along the rocks, and tossed a bait in front of him, but he ignored it. This thing was easily 35+ inches, and I would have loved to catch it, but I guess I will have to wait till next time... Did not notice the dredging boats today. Maybe they are done? My fishing is going to be limited to weekends and holidays for a while since school is starting monday
.... The summer really flew by... Good luck out there!

Re: Jetty Park "Fishing Reports" 2013
I saw quite a few people fishing for them with bobbers, but I have not seen any caught yet. Eddy creek has been full of them recently though by playalinda beach, and the ribbon fish are starting to annoy me, because every time I go to target trout or reds, the ribbon fish grab my lures and usually cut me off...

On the beach just south of jetty park (I think, I'm not from around here) I saw from the balcony of the place that I'm staying at a big big school of mullet getting crushed by fish until a boat started running through it repeatedly. This was today at around 3:00 for anyone that might have been wondering. I'm not sure if this is a normal year round thing up here but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

around this time of the year... mullet start running... thousands of them and fish will be feeding on them. What you saw is just the beginning.johnzabeasts wrote:On the beach just south of jetty park (I think, I'm not from around here) I saw from the balcony of the place that I'm staying at a big big school of mullet getting crushed by fish until a boat started running through it repeatedly. I was there yesterday till 9. Did you go this morning? Bite was pretty good for me, and I got my personal best Grover at just under 16" ( and I have pics) and 2 more keeper snapper and 2 flounder... You are right though, I didn't see any mullet... Also I think there is a red tide or something in the banana river, because there were dead fish everywhere and it smelled really bad by the 528...opiato wrote:Finally got to go out. Re: Jetty Park "Fishing Reports" 2013
Been fishing the park for the last 4 weeks and the fishing has been good... Mullet run is in in swing up and down the coast and the fish are feeding. A couple weeks ago I caught a 17" mangrove snapper (truly a monster fish) and I jumped a nice snook. Caught quite a few snapper and small flounder over the previous two weeks. Today the fishing was absolutely epic!! In the afternoon I sight fished what I thought at first was a triple tail but it had a tiny mouth so I put on a bait hook and a small piece of shrimp and. Landed it. Turns out it was some kind of brown triggerfish... One of the coolest looking fish. Then as high tide came in the bite went crazy and I landed 4 nice snapper and a grouper
!! The grouper was small(14 inches?) but its the second one I have landed in the park so super cool catch. Following that I was reeling my line in to recast and on the way in something grabbed my bait and fought nicely. I saw yellow and silver and thought jack but when I got it up I saw it was a snook!! Landed it and it measured aound 20 inches(eyeball measurements) so he lives to be caught another day
... After that I landed a FAT 14-15 inch flounder and then it was sunset... There was barely any wind so the bugs came out but I had enough fish so I decided to head home but the schools of mullet were being demolished as I left the park. I think a night trip is in order soon... For the first time in all my trips to the park did I see the FWC out there checking coolers. They are finally making their presence known!(probably because they are workers from the mosquito lagoon area that need something to do). The ribbon fisherman are out there in full force but I haven't been staying too long after dark so they have not been bothering me but I know Jettypark loves them
... Tight lines!

Bad ass! I went out today for the afternoon high tide. Fished off the rocks in the parking lot. Slow day. Only caught one thing... a lion fish
that's it though. Been heading out about every week or two to jetty or sebastian and I've been striking out a lot lately. Hopefully things shape up for me this fall. Nice job though, fishboy!

Re: Jetty Park "Fishing Reports" 2013
Waters clean n clear and full of bait. Mostly pinfish but some finger mullet too. Fishing is slow though. I only had one hook up but it was a nice one. Live finger mullet cast out towards the middle of the channel. Soaked for hours but finally the drag started screaming and I mean screaming. Before I could even get to my rod, it all ready swam up the channel back towards the rocks, crossing lines with 3 other anglers. Got untangled with em all but the fish all ready rubbed the line all over the barnacles, so didn't fight him long before the line snapped. Whatever it was was large and faaaast. But that was it. It was a long, sad drive home. Didnt see anyone else catching anything though.

I always thought that the cold front will help with the fish bitting.jettypark28 wrote:Guys remember with this cold front pushing thru... everything slow down.. and I mean
everything... it will pick up after a couple of days....
I went freshwater fishing and just like in saltwater... down side all your offering and
IMO if you are working a lure.... SLOW.. and then slow it down some more...
I ended up with 4 hookups and one going over 7lbs... (LM Bass) working a worm
no weight on the bottom.. it was a tap and then a long wait...
a week ago they were slamming the same worm... just go to show you... Weather
does play a big park...

You were right. It was slow. Fished all day and only got 3 keeper snapper to show for it. I had prime flounder baits and didn't even get a nibble...

Re: Jetty Park "Fishing Reports" 2013
Sounds like what you would do during the winter months...jettypark28 wrote:Tears143> fishing during a cold front<
It's suppose to turn on the day before a front and then slow down during and picks up
again a couple of days after...
BUT!!! this isn't always the case.. I have some great days with a front moving thru..
granted I have more bad then good days... and that's because at times trips are
already planned... You can still catch fish...but you have to change things up...
I go to smaller baits .. I just work the bait really SLOW... same thing with a lure...
the slower the better...
Anyways... I was wondering if the black drum has showed up at JP yet... should be really soon!
