Moonfish, no...SERIOUSLY

Post by mmcauliffe »

OK, I want to cook up a moonfish I caught this morning. I can't see trying to fillet one of these, their paper thin. So...head off, gut and pan fry or bake?

I know some of you guys have eaten these, any suggestions?
The problem with writing about religion is that you run the risk of offending sincerely religious people, and then they come after you with machetes.

I catch the really jumbo ones and filet them. You need a bunch for a meal. You could pan fry it whole.

Knock the fins off and throw em in the toaster.

-Seriously, they're worth the effort to fillet (but don't try to skin them). I'd take a box of lookdowns over snook any day of the week.
