Ill try and keep this one short as there was not alot of action..
The waking up at 6 am plan was a no go and decided to head out to Bill Baggs at around noon and fish the outgoing. Passed by gordons and got me 3 dozen shrimp and went straight to el faro.
Started fishing by the fence close to the lighthouse with live shrimp on a trollrite but the current was too heavy, and i could not hookup even though i was feeling some bites. Stayed here for about an hour and tossed out 2 halves of a crab as well which got eaten in seconds, but again i couldnt hook up.
Made my way to P7 and stayed here from about 1:30-5 with nothing but a couple keeper grovers which were released since i already have 5 in my fridge marinated an ready for cooking tommorow.
While on P7 i met Gruntking for the second time, he was trying to catch some bait but had no luck. Nice seeing you bro.
Headed out of the park at 5 and went home, got some dinner and then my friend called me. He said if i wanted to try a spot by his house in hialeah for some freshwater tarpon.
I convinced him to come with me to a couple spots in the river and a spot on the bay that usually produce snook, grovers, and trout.
I still had about 15-20 shrimp alive in the bucket and we were at the first spot by the river at about 8. We maybe caught 2 keeper snapper here that were released as well, but the snook werent playing and the tide was awefully wrong.
With about 8 shrimp left we went to the other spot which is by the bay and tried casting those out with similar luck. About 2-3 more keeper snapper, but no tarpon, snook, and seatrout that usually cruise these flats. Juan caught a pinfish on a piece of shrimp and we tossed it out on a bigger rod and soaked it for about an hour until as we were leaving it had a slow run. I set the hook and get the fish in quick, i will never forget those headshakes, true sign of a nurse shark. About 3 foot nurse, released it and we were off.
Tally for the day morning was:
Around 3-4 keeper grovers(11-13"), and around 10 or so undersized.
Night:
All snapper were keepers and we got around 5, and a small nurse shark.
All in all, better than staying home... but next time i wont be out unless the tides are right. The grass flats were about 2 foot deep when their normally 5...
