Out of Boca Inlet

Post by TeEnAnGlerPro213 »

I was itching to get out and do some boat fishing, so decided to go for a quick run last night (sat.) 6:00- 11:00

started at the patch reefs around 30 feet. fished the usual drop offs looking for snappers. it started of very slow, as all we were catching is big grunts and small lanes snappers. So we went offshore looking for bigger snappers and some cruusing kings. All we caught were two blue runners and small Ytails. oh yeah, one 9.8 grover lol. SO back we go to a patch reef, and we put out the chum b.c. it was getting late. only end up with 3 Ytails -14 in. kept 2 big grunts and 1 nice size lane. these were all caught on the runner stips. We also released a bunch of those annoying red eye toras. we also caught a bunch of small groupers, all released safe and sound. There was a bunch of hoos lined up b.c. of our chum and chunking. but no kings or big snapper were interested

BTW, it was so COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :chillpill: brrrr and also we saw fireworks coming from like pomp or DFB pier, or maybe some hotel, they were really nice to see, anyone know what thats all about?

Next time don't forget a castnet, hit those hoo's sitting back in your chum slick then freeline them back. It's like magic how when there is no fish to be caught on a reef section a small live ballyhoo just makes fish appear. I always do good reef fishing with just chum and dead/cut bait, but the difference that live bait caught on site makes is night/day. Either way it does beat sitting at home doing nothing.
