Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
Went fishing today from 9am till 1pm. When I got there there was maybe 10 people in the entire pier, which surprised me. The wind conditions were not bad, and the water was crystal clear. I caught a few yellow tail snappers but nothing legal so back in they went. I did see about 10-15 huge pinfish swimming around, tried using a sabiki #4 there were no bait fish around at all.
I went in with frozen shrimp, sardines and a couple different gotchas and x-raps. Nothing at all was biting, asked a couple people if they caught anything, and everyone said that just small fish were around.
So yeah fellas, looks like Anglin's is fishless and no secret cobia run either D:

I was out last night, and nothing. their was some bait but not too mush. Same bunch of snook not hitting very much. One guy hooked one for about 5 seconds, but broke off on piling. Grap again at Anglins for me. See you out their next week!
Wisdom, justice, temperance, and fortitude. And if none of that works, kick em in the nuts!

SAT. 25
Brought 2 kids
Drank 2 monsters
Ate 2 subs
caught 2 lessers
caught 2 nice size sand perch
2 long 2 much work on the planks!!!
7a-4p Great to get out though!!! My son and his buddy had a great time. I put out a chum bag and they loved seeing the big parrot fish swimming in it. It attracted some runners and the usual reef fish. No macks.
My son and his friend brought back a few in the bait bucket and my son kept saying "I think its illegal to keep that fish!!!!!"

That would fit perfect on a Ritz
The problem with writing about religion is that you run the risk of offending sincerely religious people, and then they come after you with machetes.

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
I went Sat and Sunday for about 20 hours- one guy got a Cero from the bottom on a pilchard.
Looking for poons and they were scarce, allot of divers both days. My friend got an African pompano on a cut frozen hoo right off the north side-mid hut- about 20 feet out. Must have hit him on the nose because when he threw the cut bait out he was on before it hit bottom. The African was about 14 inches long and a different sight for sure.. it swam away like a champ. Small pilchards in the surf before full light both days, greenies hit and miss all day and sometimes can't miss they were thick at times. Regular plank fish on shrimp- moonies over the rail a few grovers. Saw a few huge gogs brought up hitting freelined pilchards- huge gogs.... not like there were schools of gogs around either. Got an amberjack Sunday 19inches and back it went. Good to be out

Hey Rory, I wonder if that means all our pompano went to Africa this year. They sure didn't show at Anglen's.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

The wife and I are going to try our luck on Saturday. We'll be the two invalids on scooters. Come on over, have a beer, and say "hi".

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
I was there yesterday from 7am-6pm. The water was crystal clear, no wind and hot. Bait near shore not hitting the sabiki rig, except for little runners. Condition got a lot better in the afternoon when the wind picked up. Lots of pilchards, spanish sardines came in roughly at about 3-4pm but no takers. Kept on getting bugged by this kid asking for hooks, line, drinks. Not that I mind about helping out once, but when it's constantly it bothers. I would not dare ask for stuff, since I am aware how costly everything is with the economy and all. If I don't have the gear I just don't go out there. I ended up telling the kid I would be asking him for his social to claim him at the end of the year.

I'm sorry man but this post touched my heart. I was one of those kids once. When I was a teenager I didn't have a father or mother to give me what I needed to fish, I begged for it. I knew many kids that rather to spending time breaking things and stealing, fished the piers, jetties, and bridges. Some of the parents just dropped them off at the pier to get rid of them, some would stick around with them but couldn't afford to get what they needed and wondered around and took from the garbage what they could use. As I grew up I helped a few, the ones that stole things I stopped helping. The ones that knew how to work it I helped (They knew that if they got bait for the olders they would help them with the important things like gold hooks, fishing line, weights, and a soda or 2)...
Yes it gets annoying but please look around! Are they in really need of help? Please help them even it if digs deep in your pocket. They will become better people and they will pass it forward. It always helps to give them some good advice.

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
I believe I know the young one he is speaking of, I do not know what his situation is but he does ask for tackle a bit but seems to be a good kid, just does not have what he needs to get the fish. I will set him up with some tackle in hopes he will limit his asking.
The kid does love to fish and gets very excited when fish are there and I like to see that.

Thanks man, we all deserve a chance when we don't have the means to do so. Sometimes a few words is all we need. Let me know, I can help.

BF I still have a medium spinner setup I am trying to give away so let me know if he needs one.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Will do Chris, the young man only comes on the weekends that I know of, so unless he shows up during this week it will have to wait until next weekend.

Sounds like my 35 yr old nephew. The tax reference was killercudaman wrote:kenknight86 wrote: Kept on getting bugged by this kid asking for hooks, line, drinks. I remember doing some of that stuff on dania , back when zebco was a pier rat. I gave away a bottle of water on the bridge the other day to a kid that was being forced to walk it with his mom. About 2 hrs later I ran out of water, but it was still worth the look on the kids face.
