Is there any way to keep ur sabiki rigs untangled to be re-used?

Card board works great as mentioned by Hammer, I will post a pic of what I use it is made from wood and I should patent it. I use it for Sabbikis and Tied leaders with hooks on them. I will take the pic and post later.

Ok, I hope I did not lead anyone to think this was some kind of ingenius device because its not and I find the most simple things in this world do the job.

Mine are made from soft drift wood a piece of what I believe may have been a Lobster trap, I like to pick things up when I fish and found this and decided to turn it into something I could use.
Which I do alot when fishing because I like as I have said in the past fish for at least 24 hours on fishing road trips and while not catching a fish I find odd things to do and I like to turn junk into gold lets say.

A soft piece of Balsa Wood would work great I think, mine is a little harder and I made a few out of the piece I found and they have lastest with me for almost twenty years, I used them for the gold hook rigs that I would make up until they came out with Sabbikis.

1/4 inch thick and 1 1/2 or 2 inches wide and about 5 inches long

The soft wood works good for the fact you can turn the hooks into the wood and push them in and the last hook locks down the swivel and wieght and it is the one hook I make sure is in the wood.

You should take the sabbiki type you are useing and make the length so it wraps around so you can place the last hook in the swivel snap but some of mine are different lengths and I manage to make them work also, you wil find other uses for them to I have.

I very rarely have to untangle and they last for a month or so and then the saltwater gets to them.

Take your lady out for a nice bottle of wine and save the cork. If not drink it all yourself and save the cork. That's what i've been using and works great. Good luck those things have sharp hooks and get so dam tangled if your not careful. Tight lines.

Though I've never fished an actual Sabiki, this thing looks very much like a Mackerel Tree rig which I normally wrapped around a small piece of a thin pvc pipe. A piece of an old, fairly soft garden hose works even better since you can stick the hooks into it.

I use a piece of styrofoam about 1.5 inches square and about 4 inches long. I wrap them around it and hook the hooks into it at the ends I use a brass thumb tackto hold them in place. Simple and free with every toy I buy for my girls.

There's instructions on the package that tells you how to wrap them back on the paper backing then slide back into the orginal package.

I opened my tackle box the other day to discover my gotcha lures had been thrown into the slot with the sabiki rig. Talk about a serious pain in the arse.

When your done fishing, find a nearby picnic table. Take 2 push pins (for bulletin boards) out of your tackle box. Make sure no one is looking. Under the table, put one push pin through the swivel and sink it into the table. Stretch the sabiki tight against the underside of the table. Push the other pin through the snap. If nobody saw you do it, it should still be there for next time. Don't you guys start looking for my sabikis now!

Yea. whenever my parents finish a bottle of wine I always keep the cork because to me that is the easiest way to store a Sabiki for re-use

i have an old school fishing rod the hallow type with an old small conventional reel on it. ive tossed out the top part of the rod. right above the reel on the rod ive drilled a hole that the line feeds thru coming out the end of the rod. this way when i reel up the sabiki it feeds all the way thru the hallow rod and all those little hooks feed right up into it also. it stops when the weight reaches the rod tip. hope i explained it ok

While you wrap the sabiki; when you get to where the hook branches off you hook it into the cork and just wrap and hook till you finish. And I also stick the swivel into the cork.

a cheaper way of storing a sabiki (and much more compact, I might add) would be to use an empty film canister. put the one end with the sinker inside the film canister and start wrapping around it on the outside. when you get to one of the hooks, hang it on the open top of the canister and continue to wrap around it. when you get to the last swivel, stick it under some of the wrapped line (i would leave like two or three turns slack for this) and then just attach the swivel to the sinker. I can post a pic of this later when I get home.
