How did it go with the kayak? I'm also curious about the shack you're talking about, is it this place?

Since when? I was there on Thursday and there was no sign of it closing. The fish were very few and far between but I did almost catch an old fishing pole.

Good choice on the cart, you can load enough gear on that to take anything Long Key can throw at you 8)

So a buddy of mine and I went to the Rickenbacker just to see what its like now that the parking is open and to fish for a little while, The parking looks great the fishing well not so great. We where there from around midnight to about 3:15am we caught a few medium sized grunts in the 8-10'' range they all went back in the water and around 2:30am we notice both our lines start running only to find out that he had hooked a 2 1/2 foot Bonnet Head shark apparently the shark swam toward my line and got them hooked together after about a 5 minute fight we got the little fellow out unhooked and back into the water. i saw a few Tarpon rolling in the shaded area away from the light but no hits from them.
So overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been. BTW it was a low but incoming tide so I didn't expect there to be much fish.
Tight Lines, Alex

the only good to catch rite now at that place is macks, and even that is hit or miss. god forbid u catch one and people see u. then you'll see wat it is to rub elbows.lol :D . last year during a frigid morning, i had a large king strike a feathered jig, but missed. he clearly cut all the hairs off my jig. but like i said, hit or miss or more miss than anything. better off hitting the piers.

rare wrote:Well, no signs at the beginning of the bridge for closing or anywhere. The Bridge does look cleaner from that last time I was there. 2 guys going after bait- A few fishermen on the bridge and that about it. The yoyo alarms made me laugh. The yoyo on the floor and beer bottle acting like the clicker-should have taken a pic! I will make a phone call and see if I can get this rumor out the way….

Fishing report-nobody was catching anything….but bait…lol
