I have a nasty welt on my neck from a 6 oz bank sinker flying back and winging me when I was handlining my rig out of a snag in the rocks. Good thing it hit the meat of my neck, otherwise you guys would have had to wake me up with smelling salts or take me the ER to get a broken jaw wired shut

It was actually a little bull shark. Yep, one of Ricky's setups got swiped  I really wish we could have caught the SOB as he was walking away with it

Thats what you get for not bringing a 6'2 320lb former US ARMY Infantryman with you. People leave my poop alone or Id throw them off the bridge.
The Army Combatives Training and 677lb squat, 443lb beach press, pays off with bandit shotput. and bandit Javalin contest. :joker:

rare wrote:killula *LOL* These guys don't care! When fish is on we are trying to help one another. One pointing the light, another with the net, another pushing people out the way so that person has more room to fight the fish..etc... for then that is their art moment to steal for lack of other word. The reel if I am not mistaken is a Ambassadeur baitcast reel. (not sure about the rod) Ricky said he wont lose any sleep over it. When I saw Ricky looking for something, & he told me he is missing his reel/rod I dropped what i was doing and we went looking for it. F'ers got away with it this time!

You had bigger fish to fry! Not to worry, we will hit it up again! Maybe look for a lost permit in the 40lb there. 8) Yes, a Bull shark, you are right, Rory!

I know rare, I was just trying to push my inflaited self importance out there so you guys will bring me next time.

nice report. :) so y'all made it up here and didn't even tell me you guys were coming. that's alright cuz i had to work that day anyway.
Sebastian sure is a bad place aint it. lots of hard fighting and great eating fish out there
plus the attitudes are very harsh and nasty as well.
but that's typical at SI. yes it sure is oh and PP.... it is going to be getting hotter and hotter when December comes. that of course can only happen when the fronts move through though. sometimes the tarpon are so bad you dont even want them to
strike. oh and Ricky.... that sure does suck when someone takes
the advantage of ya out there in general. about a few months ago i heard someone was fishing the north pier/jetty and they had several Ambassadeur's stolen including the rods they were on. it was a big hit for the man.
over 900 dollars gone just like that. you know something... even though i fish with cheaper
rods and reels you all might fish with, im kinda surprised that no one took the oppertunity to steal my stuff even when im not paying attention to the rods nor bait.
maybe its cuz ppl know i will be back up there thats why. not sure though but it could be like i said anyway. to cheap not worth stealing. well good luck when you guys come back up next month hopefully.

Man those are some nice reds. I went there Thursday night and reds, blues and snook were biting at the south jetty.

I learn that my best experience at SI is during the night in the weekday because the crowd dies down and you actually can fish at anywhere u want without worring about crossing people lines.

Thanks for the kind words Nelson and Rob. I love that place, wish I had more time to fish it. In regards to fishing and some of the kind people that go there it hasn't changed for the past 25 years....Always hot and you always have to be in the look out for your gear and your coolers. It would have been nice to see fixed80, killula and others from the forum out there. fixed is not that they see you regularly it's just that it hasn't happened to you yet. There are so many people coming from so many places to Sebastian it's crazy if you ask around they will tell you they are not just from all corners of Florida but from all over the world. Some of those people go there once a year and normally the things they take are running out of things like lures, bait, fish, hell I even seen fights because of people stealing ice. All they have to do is ask or offer something in exchange but some people will not do that. That's why from the beginning I told the guys to always be on the look out. In 25 years (with a 5 year pause in between) It has happened to me three times, and I tell you that's not that bad. I've had a lot more taken from me from piers.

Next time I will take better rain gear, mines tore up from people snagging it too much. It's googan city, but many of them are really nice people, so you don't have a choice but to watch out for people casting all over then smile and laugh watching them. And I tell you I couldn't get rid of that drunk guy, where ever I would cast he found a way to bring my line to the rocks, I move to the other end and his other drunk friend would do the same. I lost so many rigs because of that it was crazy. I was free lining bait and got stuck on the rocks. By the way I threw back about 15 catfish of the ones they were piling up and at least 12 of them were still alive.

On to the fishing part. It was good, but could have been better. The fish were there but we were tired and left. The sheepsheads, black drums, black margates, pompano, and snook started to come in, but we left. This is the first time I go and not hook a red, I found out why a bit too late. I started with the mack, black drum, and later a nice whiting. Then I reached for my tackle bag to change rigs and I stopped getting bites after that. I had oiled all the zippers on my bag and forgot one crucial step, "CLEAN OFF THE OIL". Found that out as we were leaving, scratched my nose and there it was, 3in1 oil's strong smell all over my hands. It was not only on the zippers, because of the rain its all over my tackle. I will now have to wash everything inside and out of it with scent free detergent.

We would had done even better but that wind and rain kicked our bottoms. As you guys saw the boats and people by the rocks, it was a clear indication that the flounder was running solid but we had to fish for them from the rocks, the South side, or other little places I know.

As always it was fun, until next fishing trip guys. :toast:

strizile, told ya you would miss plenty

Man sad to read that but then again it's an opportunity for some fishing in the weekdays. My company almost closed 3 times but found a way to survive. Hope the job market is not so bad on your field. Enjoy turkey week, Happy Thanksgiving and make the best of it..

Well yea I see that.

You guys did very well and those bulls do put up a nice fight. Looks like you guys had fun.

However I might be able to go more fishing shortly because it looks like the company is shutting down.
I might not have a job by the end of the week.

Happy Thanksgiving.--> Seriously "Happy Thanksgiving"
Sorry to hear that Ron, I've been there before as well, never a good feeling. I'm sure everything will work itself out for you though.

This guy looks familiar. Wasn't he a shark fisherman and a member of this forum?

I'm not sure if he has posted here before, he didn't mention the forum. He was floating ladyfish out on a 9/0. He hooked up with that bull almost instantly once he floated it.

Yes Bolo, he was from "TEAM MAKO VODKA"....PP he used a 6/0 wide same one he used in the past shark tournaments. I also thought he looked familiar but couldn't remember who he was. He is the kid that got married a year or 2 ago and said goodbye to all in his recently married thread or something like that.

strizle, great time to be out of work and fishing man :toast: Enjoy!

fished the jetty about a week ago
it was super slow all day long. About 7 hours with no fish. Only a couple macks caught on the whole pier. Then the rain picked up and the big redfish started frenzying. People were just pulling in 3 foot plus reds! We had to leave about 30 minutes after the fishing picked up but ended up with a 36 incher and a 40 incher.
One hith a 5 inch finger mullet.
We ran out of live bait so I put on the head of a massive mullet and the big one hit it.
Both fish were exeptional fighters. :reeling:

you know your right cudaman... it just aint happened to me yet. hopefully it wont every or i will be p!........ off. oh and that guy with the shark, i seen him sometimes down there. even said he was on boatless for the tourney like said.
and last....(for anyone) use a 2 1/2 or 3 oz spoon up there. it really works as well as the jigs. spoons are better i think but is a b**** when you lose it to the rocks.
man the last time i was there i casted a spoon towards the ocean side and it flew
off my leader. D@m was a p'd too. but its funny how things like that happen
and seeing ppl's rods snap and ppl fighting rocks for over an hour cuz they think its a fish. :uplol:

That was my first trip to Sebastian, definitely worth the drive, I will be heading back up there soon.

When is the next trip? *LOL* I'm having the last fillet black drum & spanish mack ceviche tonight! Karen loves the balck drum, but at first she said... We are eating that?...*LOL* (Karen said permit is still her favorite :biglaugh: ) Just spoke to our fishing bud, Ron- he is in high spirit! Brah- you know where to find me- :toast: Ricky, great pics man!!

Dude, WTF is up with the face of the guy in the background with the green jacket? He looks like a walking corpse

I think he was one of the last guys to leave that asked for bait- Herb said hell no...*LOL* I only gave him 3 shrimp.
Reason I said no is because I thought we we might stay a bit more and also because sometimes giving free bait is like feeding the pelicans; You give some to one and then a flock comes up to you. You saw what happened when I netted the mullet, a guy asked for one he took two, the guy behind him took another I turned around and his hands were inside the bucket again. I knew you would all be hooked. Wanna go this Wednesday night and head home by 9 am to come back home for turkey day? Would only fish for flounder this time, but you'll probably get a bit of everything again.

snapper slayer: Is good that at least the bite picked up...the key there is to move around. when the tide shifts you have to move where the fish is stacking up. It's not always at the end of the jetty like many in there seem to think.

Yeah I love using spoons there, but they weren't working. We used several different artis but the macks were homed in to the live finger mullet and greenies. Man it is very funny to see people fight those rocks :biglaugh:
