Wow, i saw so many macks (ceros) around and none of them stroke for mine jigs or live bait - minows ... what the h..e..l..l? Are they lost sense of their smell?

thru my experience cero's have the best sight and will turn away 99% of the time unless the water is absolutely milky.....if you can see them good luck getting them, IMHO....walked out Tuesday afternoon around 4pm for about 1hour and jigged for pomps, went 1 for 2 with a nice 1.5lb fish making it to the broiler for dinner, saw 1 other nice fish come up on an unattended rod and the roofer had a few pompets ....wont be long now

well, i disagree, ceros have worst eye recognition, and strike on everything moving, than spanish, maybe because they not in schools as spanish are, and school instinct does not help them? At least then they not grownups (under 15-20 inch), 12-14 inch ceros were striking on things that 24 spanish were striking on? Is it matter of hunger or unexperience or age, i just wonder.

Managed to find time to fish last nyt, great weather, good 5-8 se wind, water got some color into it, needle fish on both sides of the pier, last 2/3 of the pier is full of it. Never seen so many, manage to get 1 mangrove, i was hoping for some bluefish but none, then i hear a slow clicking on my tld15, lift it up and boy i feel like im hooked to a submarine, fought it for like five minutes then it surfaced, it was a 6-7' ray, that thing was huge! Then he made a run to the north, i increased my drag to 3/4 full but that ray kept on pulling, im slowly going up on the drag again when suddenly my 10' star rod broke into half

lost the ray and a good 100 yards of line... The good thing is my rod is still under warranty.

... Left at 2300h.

WOW....I cant believe the star broke. I am big fan of star and have two of my own. I might have to stop useing it for shark and do a swap.

Was out about 5:30 AM. Jack's were cheap at first light. then died off. saw a couple short pomps. FF got a Mac. Left about 9. Lot's of wind out of the SW. OK water color.

I am going to try and hit the beach early am 4 or so then at sun up take a walk to the pier. Either saturday or sunday. Hope the sharks are bitting.. I figure i will so some surf casting for the tips on the beach then soak a big bait on the pier... See ya there.....

Like Rob said, we practiced casting from 6;30 to 9:30. But, with Russ off work the fish weren't about to bite. Only posting this to get my challenge post count up
