Too bad these bastards throw all the trash in the ocean, i almost threw one of them in myself in january

Ya, my friend and I were pissed. The dude just told us off and walked away. A few days later we saw him doing it again so we called FWC. An officer showed up 2 hours later but the guy was gone by then.

just got back from fishing rickenbacker. nothing really going on except schools of mullet and dines going in and out of the light. Fished for about 2 hours using butterflied grunts and nada, used live pilchards and nothing either. People have no respect for personal space in this bit*h. Went to the other side to see if i could sabiki some bait and before you know it some guy is next to my cooler casting  and at random intervals people just creeping up next to me.

The homeless residents do not throw the garbage over the water, they do place it in the trash and the truck comes in the morning to collect it. Other wise they would be long gone out of there. Now, people on the other hand, that is something else. The bridge is big but the bait and the shrimp are mostly under the lights, or where the current is very visible specially in certain areas so if you want to avoid cast nets people should fish in between the lights, not directly under them. Also, just like in any other place people think the bridge or pier belongs to them and they will fish their usual spots no matter who is there. If I get there first I always politely ask the ones casting to keep their distance. In over 25 years of fishing on and off in that area I never had any problems with people. The only problems I've had there are the ones with boaters getting too close to the bridge.

I have noticed that most people that have problems there have them because of cultural barriers and a language barriers. It's all in the head people, all piers and bridges have the same kind of people no matter what race or religion, you just open your eyes more when the barriers present themselves and see the problems you want to see only when you want to see them. If you see problems that require law enforcement, call the law! Don't take matters in your own hands, you might end up going to jail your self. Can't we all get along? Just fish and let others cross your lines! It happens everywhere

Going back to the reports, how is the bait situation in there right now?

By the way nice job on macks man!

Didn't get enough salt air at Anglins, so went to the backer with 2 rods. I saw 2-3 birds circling around & diving, no one seemed to care about those birds. I went with a gotcha setup & I was on the first hit. I went again, cut off…I went to rigged the 2nd lure & forgot I gave it to PP on our key's trip & it was cut off as well. I rigged with a spilt shot & shrimp. I jigged & got another one. The 3rd one came as the birds were leaving- I got my salt air…Ran out as fast as I came in..lol

Hey Nelson thats an epic day there :dude: Tight work dawg!
Nice. That is the best way..Get on it early and hope you run into that early morning school of macks that run through backer. If you do not hit that school, try another spot elsewhere.

It's good to know there's baby gags at Rickenbacker...

It just irks me that I'm pretty sure people are going to keep them anyways...

maybe they should put up a board like they do at other places with the sizes, amounts and speices of the fish,i dont think it will stop them but this way they cant say "i didnt know officer".the grass flats through out the bays are a nursery for many of the game fish that call florida home, most of the resident fish, and bait fish are overfished thats why mack season is so popular, good thing is they dont hang all year or they would face the same outcome. all you can do is tell them and hope they throw it back :scold:,or just call FWC and hope they show up in time.

Finally got out there yesterday, picked up 4 doz. shrimps from Crook and headed out there.I put in my time and made like 4 different stops going towards the end of the bridge until found a spot where it was one after the other on hits. One guy asked me if I had a fish finder at the end of my rod, I just laughed. All in all managed to use up all my bait, nothing to throw away! Caught and released around 30+ mangrove snappers all about 10". I was hoping for something bigger than 10" but it never happen. I managed to catch a nice size pin, threw him out on my baitrunner but no hits. Next time I'll go all the way to the end of the bridge, where it should be alittle deeper, since the channel is there. Had a great time! One quick question, since I was catching small mangrove where I was, should I have moved from there or kept being there like I did, looking for the bigger ones??? Thanks for any info!!

Usually mangroves school together by size, so if you are getting all small ones, try moving
