I made it out for the first shift in front of Rob 6am to 11:30am....I caught 8 macks, 5 blues and endless Jacks. First large pod of mullet came thru just after 11am, had a few silver kings in it but nothing else major, Saw plenty macks from 9:00 to about 10:45am come over the rail....good to catch up with a few of the regs. Shouldn't be long now.

Tight lines

Hit the pier at dawn with Pat. Very windy with waves crashing the pier. Very rough and wet with milky water. 3 bluefish and a snook caught. A few mullet running through with nothing on them.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Headed out by 4am, early start. Arrived at Anglins at round about 6 and walked all the way down to the T. Tom, roofer and a few others from the boatless crew were there and they were doing ok on the bottom, although mostly it was short groupers! Tommy connected with a very nice grover just at sunrise and then i headed for the middle hut. Using a ghost xrap I ended up catching 15 or so, maybe a little over spanish macks, theyre not full force yet, but the water retains its color for the moment and it was a hot morning bite. It was worth the 70 mile drive each way!!! Will be out again next week if the water churns to the tune of a NE wind again!

Till next time, tight lines and looking forward to a promising season!

Awesome fishing today!! Macks, blues, jacks nonstop action from early morning till noon time. The crowd is also wonderful! Some tangles here and there and i've never seen anybody lose their cool or shout at anyone. This is the pier to go to if you REALLY want to relax and catch fish. Everybody just had a great time! Thanks Tommy and the boatless crew!! :toast:

I made it out Saturday AM.

In between the rain squalls there were enough Blues and Macs to keep the rods bent most of the AM - intermittent juvi jacks to play as well. Hoardes of whitebait at daybreak gave way to passing pods of mullett, some with fish on em some not. Either way, for me, it was a nice chance to wet a line, which sadly, I have not done enough of lately. :reeling: :reeling:

Was out Sat and Sun with my son-in-law and my grandson,,, caught blues & macs all day Sat and got a few blues and a few macs on sunday,,, the best part of the day was my grandson beaning a surfer with a 3oz bank sinker,,, he is 5 years old and learning how to cast,,, there was no hook on his line just the weight,,,, always wanted to do that when them guys are right up on the pier but never really let it fly.

Hello goodolmikey
We spoke during one of the rain down pours and I had no clue you were on the BF Forum, I was the guy with the yellow rain jacket.

Nice meeting you and your son :toast:

I did like the part about the surfer saying he was 300 feet away and a 5 year old nailed him. Yea right.

By the way guys the surfer was 20 feet away if that.

on to my report and that will be my next post

Well worked all night and got out on the pier around 4am and started soaking mutton baits --Bluefish-Bluefish- Red Grouper 18.5 -Bluefish- Red Grouper 19 6:30am I think I have a mutton and turns out to be a decent Mangrove, than blue and then I look inshore and see fish flying over the rail and the phone rings and my buddy Juan aka Swordfish says Mack attack.

I diddle around a few minutes trying to figure out should I move and decide first to grab a lure rod and run down and test the water so inshore I go and one toss and a nice Jack is screaming my rod so I get that in and I am sold off to get my stuff and get to fishing inshore. Bam Bam Bam Bam it going good a lot of Blues, Jacks and my favorite Spanish Macks, before I know it I look like I have been working out for an hour sweating like a pig and hands starting to blister from reeling so much, I love fishing war wounds.

Well the morning bite was very good I would give it a high 6 on my BF scale so we have a lot better coming in the next few weeks but heck it was a great day fishing and seeing all the happy fishing faces and my fishing friends, Blue Mack-Swordfish-clarence2society-Roofer-xtheline-and many more.

Pssss---we are going to get a 7 or 8 in the next 2 weeks hope your somewhere fishing and catching them up because it is going to be Grrrrrrrreat -- who knows maybe we will see a 9 this fall.

So this is the cooler at one point and then the fish I Harvested, I caught well over my limit of a couple of species but only took what I needed for family and friends and released all the others.
Harvested
12 macks
5 blues
4 decent Jacks
1 Lady fish for Bait
1 runner for Cobia bait
1 nice Grover
