Anglins pier vrs Pompano pier ?????

Post by willyescoto2226 »

Ihave a question. wish of thispiers is better for fishing? My teory is ,they are both so close within each other. Both have the same length . Same type of bottom. The difference I see is one charges $7.00 the other is free.

I see that most of the guys here @ BF go toanglins. Is there a reason for that?

So you know. I usually go to pompano. But notice that I usually go home with nothing.

I think the company alone is worth the admission, not to mention I usually catch something even on a slow day

Though I need to visit pompano once so I can make an assertion

Agree with you on that. Fishing with friends makes it whole lot better. Even if you don't catch any fish .

So Wich pier is better as far as the fishing quality? Any inputs? Sorry if I insist. I just want to know if it is worth paying for parking plus pier entrance at Anglins.

There is no answer to your question. I have had good and bad days on both. So it doesn't matter WHICH pier you fish you may limit out or strike out on either just a matter of if the fish are there or not.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

I fish them both and they both have good day and bad days..... Think Pompano gets a bad rap sometmes... not bad fishing though.. think they both have both a good side and a side... give them both a try and you decide for yourself..... Mick

I fish both piers ,, pompano weekday mornings because it is close to my work and I can leave there with like 7 minutes to spare,,, I fish Anglins on sundays because I like the pier there,, it seems lower to the water and makes fishing plugs and lures easier,,, I like the fact that there is someone down at the bait shack incase the boaters moor or the surfers get to close,,, I also catch alot more fish at Anglins probably because I know the bottom layout there,,,and most of all the guys at Anglins are way more knowlegable then the minimum wage people out at pompano,, the people are really friendly there and dont try to shank you if you cross their line by accident...I spend a hour and a half every morning on p[ompano but if I am going for the long haul Anglins is my choice

Agree with you mikey. I went to pompano last sunday. A little girl was touching some live baits a gu had in his bucket, and this guy just started screaming at this poor little girl. (girl was probably 8-9 years old). Mommy just kept saying i told you not to touch anything. Some people that go to pompano pier just makes me wonder.
Not to mention the amount of weed they consume at the T at night.

I only go to pompano during daytime because of that.

As mentioned aforehand both the pompano and anglins piers will produce good and bad days as it is with any fishing spot...... But as a fort lauderdale native I grew up on both piers and must say that anglins has the slight edge in terms of producing quality fish but their prices need to be lowered....... It's not worth the 7 plus parking plus anything else you may need to purchase from their bait shop without knowing if any good fish are in the area........ Do yourself a favor and put the money you would have spent at anglins in your gas tank and take the day trip up to Juno pier..... Bit of a drive but worth it in the end...... Remember a bad day at juno is better than a good day at anglins or pompano!!!!
And yes pompano may be free but it's always way too crowded and overfished!!!!! Hope this helps
