Re: Boynton Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2011
fished 6-9am today. Bait selection was pilchards 4". Elbow to Elbow fishing on the south jetty. Saw quite a few moonies caught along with a 29" snook. I however went to the N jetty free lined some pilchards then BAM! drag spinning, SNAP. Felt like it was a snook but apparently mother nature thinks I haven't paid enough "dues" yet... That was my only hit of the day. Will try again tomorrow AM.

not very thick with snook. The fish that are there are small/slot fish, seem to be very keen on live bait. I would say, if you find the bait schools try to keep close by. Now go out there and post a report!

Re: Boynton Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2011
Tues morning 6-9. Tide was pretty high and the winds calmed down to 10-15 ESE. Started collecting bait on the biki about 2 at a time. Around 630 I soak my first pilchard, 5 minutes in fish on. I had to walk over the first set of rocks on the south side to land this snook, 25" healthy release. Rerig bait flys off, rerig bait flys off, rerig and finally a good cast, instantly the reel starts screaming, This fish took me almost to the sand discharge pump station, I had to walk over BOTH rock piles and took a few 4' waves to the head. Finally the waves start the help push this GIANT jack to the beach. Had to be 20lbs, hopefully "bill" won't forget to send me the pics and Ill post em. Soaked another bait to release another fat 26" snook. All fish caught on 30lb braid/30lb fluoro, bait was on #3 sabiki. overall tally was 2-4 on snook with a few other misses, and the my largest jack to date.

Yeah, baby! Nice outing, Wes! I look forward to the photo! :-)
(I once waited about 4 weeks to get a photo of a big jack from a photographer on the beach.... ends up he was in Colombia for a month and that's why he was not returning my calls, but in the end I got the photos! :-) )

I'd rather catch good size jacks off the beach like you did. Ever since they raised the height of the jetties and put the railings in, it's just not the same anymore. I've been fishing there almost daily for quite a few years, after awhile you know where and when to catch certain species there.

Re: Boynton Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2011
Oh don't worry I've been fishing there since 2000 when I moved into the area I know the routine lol
I like fishing for snook when they start showing up, not when they're thick and every ignorant a**hole is out there trying to out-do each other or prove some kind of point.. same with every other fish and season I like the beginning of every season and then I'll disappear into the beach or intercoastal spots if I'm not freshwater fishing. I agree the rails should be lower.. I kinda miss the old ghetto looking cable on a stick.

Miguel, I'm looking at going down at the end of this month. Most likely getting to the bridge Sunday night April 29th and fishing through Monday the 30th. I gotta talk with John first to confirm if he is good then we will be set. Would you be able to make that?

Re: Boynton Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2011
Slightly delayed: fished Friday after work towards the middle(?) of the outgoing tide. Walked the beach again looking for my lonely snook or tarpon with a lure. Of course, I think on my third cast in, my lure gets slammed and takes a nice long run... no jump or head shakes.. The Jack strikes again. Took a bit to get him in and this one was a bit bigger than he last one I landed on the beach. Horrible tape measure job due to a flopping Jack, but he must of been around 34in or so.
No one to take the pic so I guess the tape could do him a little justice.

Todays report:
Made it out to the inlet with a buddy of mine and grabbed a few mullet which were pretty thick in the channel and headed out to brave the crowds.. To my amazement there weren't that many people fishing, at least where I normally fish. Weather must of scared off a few (thank god).. Casted in my first mullet and instantly, dead. Threw another back out one a little bigger and within 3 mins FREKKIN SCORE. Landed me a perfect 31.5in. snook. Or.. Robalo as the couple of people there named it, confused as to how they haven't caught anything. Gotta love it. Fished till low tide and called it quits, had my fish, had cleaning to do, time to go home! The fishing is picking up..

Sweet snook, I've had no luck at the Jupiter inlet up here lately. Got a nice slot size redfish today further inland, but let him go. Mullet have been crazy thick, I threw my net once this morning and could barely lift it, there were at least 50 hog leg 1+ lbers in there.

Re: Boynton Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2011
I understand the late evening crowd have been doing real well, I'm one of the early morning regulars. Baitsoakers have been doing good the last 2-3 weeks but it is slow going for the artificial users. I had to overslots, on the incoming, being alone I had to jump the rail and land them on the beach, at 66 y.o I'm getting a little old for it. I did see a few fish caught off the beach on bait but I've done zip on the sand with lures.

Re: Boynton Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2011
Thanks all
Before I forget, I also had a 2nd hook on but he came off cause I couldn't set into him in time. One of the dudes there was freelining a mullet and his fish wrapped on my line and couldn't set. I saw 2 snook get up on the north side and a tarpon as well along with a couple of what looked to be like 5-10lb jacks.

What's up with all the silence? Is something biting and no one wants to talk about it or is there really no action?
I will try to get in a report if I can get out of the house anytime soon.
